With Laxman Panthi
Starting March 1, 2012: Thursdays from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
This course is an Elective Module to the 500 Hour Advanced Purusha Yoga Therapist Certification
The Gita, considered one of the "greatest spiritual books of all time," is a conversation between the small self and the Great Self, between Arjuna and Krishna, spoken in Sanskrit 5000 years ago.
There are four main paths, or yoga systems, featured in the text through which one can unite with the Divine:
• Jnana Yoga: the path of self-knowledge
• Karma Yoga: the path of action in the world
• Raja Yoga: the path of meditation
• Bhakti Yoga: the path of devotion
In this 24-class series, Laxman will guide you through a detailed discussion of these four yoga systems, including Sanskrit studies and chanting of verses within the Gita, with contextual references to the background of the text and other major streams of thought.
No prior knowledge of the Bhagavad Gita or these paths of yoga is necessary, the only requirement is to bring an open mind and a sincere heart. Students enrolled in the full training are provided with a copy of the Bhagavad Gita.
