Purusha Yoga Core Certification/Pilates-Based Yoga Teacher Training
In this professional level training, you will learn:

• Comprehensive postural and health analysis, including the means to provide an individual with specific exercises to improve flexibility, strength, circulation, and alignment.
• The 15 fundamental Pilates/Yoga exercises that provide therapeutic release, realignment, and improved mobility to the pelvis, spine, and shoulders.
• The complete "Total Body" class format for a Pilates/Yoga class, which incorporates modifications for specific concerns and can be utilized in a one-on-one or group setting.
• A unique teaching method that utilizes the "Tell-Show-Do" model and includes verbal/ physical cues and gentle assists.
• Chakra-power breathing exercises that enhance control, awareness, and well-being of the muscles and organs in each center of the body.
• How to connect and direct the flow of energy through your body using bandhas and breath.
• Client tracking and business techniques that follow the eight-limb path of yoga.
• Motivation, coaching, and personal training techniques in order to provide individualized programs and quality private instruction.

June 1, 8, 15, & 22, 2010
Level I & II: An intensive Pilates mat course (approximately 24 hours of study: 10am - 3pm each day) to learn the beginning mat exercises, as well as the basic kinesiological concepts of the exercises (Level I), and advanced mat exercises, which interrelate simple anatomy, technique, teaching skillls, and philosophy (Level II). Upon completion of both levels, you will receive certification in Purusha Core Pilates Mat.

TBA: Fall 2010
Level III
: A 6-hour 'Pilates and More' course designed for the advanced student wishes to incorporate props, such as a Wobble Board, BOSU ball, foam rollers, Thera-Bands, and/or weights in his/her mat class. Case histories will also be discussed.

Althea has taught in the health/fitness/Pilates industry for the past 20 years and her certifications include, ACSM, PILATES PHYSICALMIND INSTITUTE CERTIFICATION, YMCA HEALTH AND FITNESS LEADER. She has extensive experience in designing corrective therapetic programs with many top bay area physical therapists and chiropractors. As the founder and owner of defygravitypilates.net, she has been profiled on San Francisco television KPIX, KGO and 7x7 magazine. In addition, Althea has contributed articles for SELF and WOMEN'S HEALTH MAGAZINE.
