Purusha Yoga School’s 500 Hour Advanced Yoga Therapist Certification
This
program invites you into a whole new world of possibility and transformative
opportunity for your personal and professional life.
In the Purusha 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training
you learn how to teach yoga to groups in a holistic, safe, innovative,
and inspiring way. As you continue through the advanced curriculum you
will learn how to become not only a highly skilled yoga teacher, but
also a professional Yoga Therapist.
The eight limb system of Raja Yoga provides us with a rich array of
practices and contemplations to share with clients in a one on one setting
to enrich their lives. The 5 koshas are the yogic map of the holistic
human experience in which we can meet our clients on every level of
their being including; physical, mental, spiritual, energetic, and intellectual.
Hatha Yoga contains exercises for complete health that cleanse, invigorate,
balance, and restore peak performance of every system, organ and cell
in our bodies.
The
Purusha Yoga School’s 500 hour Advanced Yoga Therapy Certification
Program will give you the opporutnity to explore all of the limbs of
this classic and complete system including not only Raja and Hatha yoga
but also Tantra, Chakra, Bhakti, and Jnana yoga.
Taking
these studies into the modern world we utilize the knowledge and methodology
of transpersonal psychology, health education, life coaching, personal
training, counseling skills, and sound exercise science principals.
This enables the Purusha Yoga Therapist to develop and deliver a complete
and professional program that not only meets the clients personal needs
and desires but also provides excellent resources for a total lifestyle
program.
As
an advanced Yoga Therapist you have a wide open playing field to work
with. You can use therapeutic and supportive touch. You can use powerful
communication. You can teach physical exercises. You can provide lifestyle
coaching. And you can teach Yoga and all of its classic limbs in a comprehensive
way. What makes Purusha Yoga Therapy unique is that it is based on an
approach and delivery system that has been developed by Joy Ravelli.
This approach is based on her 20 years of experience as a life coach,
holistic health educator, and personal trainer. The system includes
an 8 step process to transformation. Contained within the 8 step process
are all the tools you need to guide your clients into a new reality.
By
the completion of your required modules you will have all of the tools
of a professional life coach, personal trainer, health educator and
yoga teacher. In addition to all of these tools you will also be given
the opportunity to study two specialized elective modules of your own
choosing.
Both
the required and the elective modules provide you with additional specialty
training that is rewarded with certification and recognition. These
course modules provide you with the opportunity to study with leading
professionals that are experienced innovators in their own right. Top

As
a student of the Purusha Yoga 500 hour advanced certification you are
entitled to many benefits. You will be part of a thriving community

is here to help you along your path. You can take advantage of free
classes at Breathe Studio in San Francisco, as well as being a part
of our Free Yoga In the Park and other community events. Many graduates
take advantage of opportunities that are available through the Purusha
Seva Project. This is our sister non profit organization that brings
yoga, health education, expressive movement, and life skills to under
served and at risk populations. As a Purusha Yoga Therapist and graduate
of the 500 hour Advanced Certification Training you will be welcome
to teach and become a facilitator through this and many other projects.
One primary goal of this program is to train professionals that we need
in the field.

Asana
is the third limb of the classic 8 limb system of Raja Yoga.
It is through Hatha that physical well being is realized. Hatha
is the perfect balance of yin and yang, sun and moon. Patanjali
wrote that physical practice be; “sukha and sthirra”
in english; “sweet and steady”. In this workshop
you will learn how to create ease and stablity in your students
physical body by learning the following:
• Universal laws of aligment that are based on structural
integrity of the muscular and skeletal systems.
• Chakra posture points that literally provide a ‘map’
of the body as well as the means to explore emotional and energetic
patterns.
• Modifications and specific posture/ program design that
accommodates common concerns, desires, needs, and lifestyle.
• Effective and smooth transitions and sequencing techniques
based on dance and sound kinesiology principals for movement.
• How to create interesting and unique flows that are
based on your own intuitive ways of moving and expression.
• 5 element Assists; a unique purusha approach that guides
the teacher/ student relationship intuitively and gently into
transformative new spaces and ultimately takes the student into
new places in the physical body.
• Astanga Series and how to move beyond the foundation
once you have it.
• Class format and design based on purpose and yogic intention
as well as principals of exercise science.
This workshop is for people that have a basic knowledge of common

Thai
Yoga Massage has been practiced in the temples
of Thailand by Buddhist Monks for 2500 years. This unique practice
combines assisted yoga postures, massage and the mindfulness
of Metta (loving kindness) into a flowing dance of continuous
rhythmic motion. Through this rhythmic dance, the giver experiences
meditation in motion while the receiver is in a state of balanced
energy and tranquility. Join us as we study, experience, and
explore the unique benefits, techniques, and healing qualities
of this ancient living art form. A certification of the “Foundations
of Thai Yoga Massage” will be awarded upon completion

the ancient system of the chakras as a means toward understanding
and creating a complete yogic lifestyle that is appropriate
for you and your student’s individual nature. Each of
the seven major chakra centers are related to specific physical,
mental, emotional, spiritual and energetic qualities. It is
at each of these seven locations that subtle forces and bodily
functions merge into each other. In this course you will learn
specific conscious practices that will penetrate this multi-dimensional
realm.
This
course includes:
• The Study of the ancient texts that include the Chakras
such as Tibetan Mysticism, and Tantric Yoga.
• The application of modern practices and research that
has been applied and documented in regard to the Chakras.
• Specific techniques of applying the known psycho-spiritual
and emotional dimensions of each chakra to the physical body
and the mind.
• Guided Meditation techniques for the purposes of overall
intake of individual clients as well as specific meditations
for each of the seven major Chakras.
• Bio energetics, postures, sound, mantra, breathing,

the seven chakras utilizing breath, restorative postures, conscious
communication and lifestyle habits.

Mentoring/ Assisting/ Apprenticeship.
To receive the 500-Hour Purusha Yoga Advanced Certification,
you must complete:
- 20
hours with your mentor during which you receive specific one-on-one
coaching to assist you in your professional and personal growth.
