THE SEVEN MAJOR CHAKRAS ARE AT THE CENTER OF THE ENTIRE ENERGY SYSTEM OF THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE AND ARE RELATED TO SPECIFIC PHYSICAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, SPIRITUAL, AND ENERGETIC QUALITIES.

Though every chakra is present in the entire body and field of consciousness, it is at each of these seven locations that subtle forces and bodily functions combine to create a center for holistic healing and transformation.

In this course you will explore:

  • Understanding and ultimately harnessing a deep knowledge and ability to teach all eight limbs of classic yoga, using the chakra system as your map, guide and inspiration

  • Ancient texts that reference the chakras, including the Vedas and Hatha Yoga Pradipika

  • Current research on energy, holistic healing, and communication between the known systems of the body as they relate to the chakras

  • Specific techniques that facilitate accessing, understanding and releasing deeply held emotional experiences in the body

  • Guided meditation techniques as well as specific meditations for each of the chakras

  • Bioenergetic movements, asanas, sounds, mantras, breathing and touch for each chakra center

  • Authentic and somatic movements to motivate the identification, process, and expression of deeply rooted emotions, blocked and creative energy, and deep conscious states

  • Exercises to rest, rejuvenate and replenish each of the chakras utilizing breath, restorative postures, conscious communication, and lifestyle habits

  • Neuromuscular re-education as well as re-patterning habits of the mind/body to communicate with other systems such as endocrine, immune, digestive and reproductive

This is a foundational course for the 300 hour Holistic Yoga Health Coach training.

PJ first encountered yoga and meditation in graduate school, while studying world literature and comparative mythology. He began practicing yoga seriously 8 years ago, exploring a number of different styles including hatha, restorative, yin and kundalini.

He is an RYT-500 and graduate of the Purusha Yoga Therapy program, with specialized certifications in Thai Yoga Massage and Aqua Kriya Yoga. PJ has continued his studies with noted teachers in sound healing, mantra and therapeutic forms of restorative yoga.

PJ teaches Hatha and Restorative Yoga at Purusha, infusing his asana classes with a wide range of practices including pranayama, guided meditation, yoga nidra, and sound meditation. Read full bio
