Philosophy In Practice: Bhagavad Gita & Sanskrit

  • Purusha Yoga 3729 Balboa Street San Francisco, CA, 94121 United States (map)

The Gita, considered one of the "greatest spiritual books of all time," is a conversation between the small self and the Great Self, between Arjuna and Krishna, spoken in Sanskrit 5000 years ago.

Laxman Panthi on Saturday, August 26 from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

There are four main paths, or yoga systems, featured in the text through which one can unite with the Divine:

• Jnana Yoga: the path of self-knowledge
• Karma Yoga: the path of action in the world
• Raja Yoga: the path of meditation
• Bhakti Yoga: the path of devotion

In this 6 class series, Laxman will guide you through a detailed discussion of these four yoga systems, with contextual references to the background of the text and other major streams of thought.

No prior knowledge of the Bhagavad Gita or these paths of yoga is necessary, the only requirement is to bring an open mind and a sincere heart. Students will receive a copy of the Bhagavad Gita upon enrolling for this course.

This course is an Elective Module to the 300 hour Level II Advanced Yoga Teacher Training.
