Lucia GRACE Young

Lucia Grace is an IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist, Advanced Yoga Instructor RYT 500, and improvisational dancer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. At the heart of her practice, Lucia believe that movement is powerful medicine, and that true freedom can be found by journeying deep within and setting ourselves free from limiting beliefs with loving presence, acceptance, and conscious release of what no longer serves us to step into our highest frequency, power, and radiance.

A devotee of movement and creative expression, Lucia has danced her way through life. Lucia holds a BA in Dance from Smith College, where she served as the Artistic Director of Celebrations Dance Company and choreographed, directed and produced many evening length performances, as well as improvised site specific dance works outdoors. Dance is and has always been Lucia’s greatest love. Now, Lucia is part of the facilitation team of Ecstatic Dance Bay Area, where she offers movement classes several times monthly in San Francisco, Fairfax and Oakland. Lucia joyfully integrates authentic dance movement as a core element of her group classes and private healing sessions. After many years on the dance performance path, in her early twenties, Lucia faced a time of personal challenges, loss and trauma in her life. Through these shadowy experiences Lucia discovered yoga as the way home to herself again and dove full-on into this healing practice.

Lucia completed all of her yoga trainings with the wonderful Purusha Yoga School in San Francisco. Joy Ravelli, founder and director of Purusha Studio and the non-profit Purusha Seva Project, has been a deeply impactful mentor, close collaborator, and dear friend of Lucia’s for the last 6 years. Lucia is so grateful to call Purusha her second home, where she is a Master Teacher in the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program, and also offers group classes, private sessions, and workshops. All of Lucia’s work is somatic in nature, infused with energizing chakra practices, guided visualizations, conscious breath work, elements of improvisation, and bodywork in addition to classical yoga. Her goal is to create a safe and inspirational space in which students can let go and come fully alive in the moment!
