In this course you will gain in-depth knowledge of what Joseph Pilates called the yogic “powerhouse” core of the physical body, including the skeletal, muscular, energetic, and subtle anatomy of the pelvis, abdominals, spine, and shoulders. This comprehensive course includes the study and implementation of specific bio-mechanical balancing exercises, based not only on the work of Joseph Pilates but are also present in classic hatha yoga.
You will gain the ability to deliver a program for individuals or groups, that addresses the development of each students breathing, focus, and physical and energetic wellness, through the practice of asanas integrated with the other seven limbs of raja yoga. Gain confidence working intimately with individuals through therapeutic relationship development in the realm of physical assists, personalized education, and program design. Specifically accommodate for common concerns and diseases such as pelvic floor and abdominal weakness, postural imbalances, and disc issues. Mastery in delivering a therapeutic group class or individual program will be accomplished by the course end.
At the conclusion of this course students will be able to:
Create a complete program (asana, breathing, and mindfulness) based on the Powerhouse centers of the physical body, as expressed and utilized by Joseph Pilates and classic hatha yoga.
Expertly utilize the fundamental Purusha Pilates exercises that provide therapeutic release, realignment and improved mobility to the pelvis, spine, shoulders and hips.
Integrate specific breathing patterns and mindfulness practices into each physical movement.
Demonstrate an ability to meet each client where they are, design and deliver a therapeutic and progressive program that meets their specific needs and desires for a stronger body, and deepen the connection between mind, body and true self.
Apply in-depth knowledge of exercise science including biomechanics, kinesiology, anatomy and physiology as a means toward creating a safe, effective, and therapeutic program for groups and individuals seeking balanced strength and flexibility.
Design and implement therapeutic programs for specific populations that specifically address weak pelvic floor and abdominals, imbalanced strength and flexibility of the spine, and postural imbalances.
Integrate practices from all 8 limbs of classic yoga to provide individualized programs and quality instruction and support.
Explore how to connect and direct the flow of energy through the body using the bandhas, breath, physical movement and methods of relaxation and release from the Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
Design therapeutic programs that accommodate and modify for specific concerns of an individual (or group sharing a similar obstacle or goal), such as seniors, pregnancy, or post rehabilitation for disc or postural imbalances.
Successfully implement the teaching method of “Tell-Show-Do-Be” and strengthen your ability to listen, be present, and provide verbal and physical cues and assists for your clients.
Provide a therapeutic, safe, and effective program for a group, while still prioritizing the needs of each individual student.
Support a clients complete journey, following the 8-limb path through assessment, analysis and individualized education and tracking.

WITH LORI PIM
Lori teaches flow based vinyasa and mat pilates for all levels. She is an E-RYT 200 and RYT 300 hour graduate from Purusha Yoga School, with specializations in Pilates and Thai Yoga Bodywork. She has been leading the Pilates module since 2014. She is inspired by the teachings of Joseph Pilates. Pilates, like yoga, emphasizes a deep mind-body connection and Lori brings this connection into each practice.

Joy Ravelli is an ERYT 500 Certified Instructor, Internationally Certified Yoga Therapist (IAYT), Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP), Certified Pilates Teacher (Physical Mind), Certified Personal Trainer (ACE) and has over 30 years of experience leading workshops on Yoga Anatomy. Joy is the founder and co-director of the Purusha Yoga School.
